   The Beginning [Genesis]
The idea of Doomed Youth was first concieved back in October 2001 by seven and myself. And around October/November, of the aforementioned year, I seem to recall attempting the creation of the first doomedyouth; which, needless to say, failed. It was then several months before another attempt. The first version of Doomed Youth was brought to life on the 7th of January 2002, after missing out on DoomedYouth.com by about a week, we settled for DoomedYouth.org (which I now prefer). And hense, Doomed Youth was first brought to your ever welcoming screens.

   Moving on... [Exodus]
The site initially progressed slowly, and even at it's peak fell short of glory. Around the beginning of March version 2 of Doomed Youth was released. A revamped top bar (as the old navigation was) was introduced and even a chat room, which was most commonly used for us admins to talk to ourselves, sometimes at length (nothing to worry about, honest). Little did we know that version two would see an end to Doomed Youth, temporary, yet lengthy. Posts and Topics multiplied and in a relatively short time we reached the 1000 post mark.
Time roled on, as it does, crushing anything in it's course, and Doomed Youth stood and grew, with relatively few issues. Members came and registered, only to sit idle, despite numerous pestering emails from the admins. And though it is an annoyance, it's very reminiscant to look at the memberlist and see much the same trend occuring, though no pestering emails have been sent... yet.
At it's peak Doomed Youth had accumulated 34 members, not an exceedingly large number, taking a lack of activity from most into consideration, but the members we did have just kept coming back for more, with some topics getting heated (I seem to recall "Homosexuality - Choice or Chance?") and some deviating totally from any initial ideas ("Word Association" having a lot of deviation, expectedly, if occasionally seemingly random). At which point Doomed Youth was regularly getting in excess of 130 unique visitors per day, an interesting fact (even taking in the inaccuracies of the stats) as there were only a few active members. Sadly this was not to last...

An End [Acts of the Apostles]
Around the 25th of May, with nearly 2000 posts under it's belt, Doomed Youth was removed from public viewing indeffinately. Though the inevitability of it's return was obvious. By now... No one could live without Doomed Youth. This closure, however, was one of the main sources that inspired me to re-create Doomed Youth with my own hands. To have more control over the environment, should the worst come to the worst, and this, in part, is what has driven me to this point, to recreate the communal focal point that is DoomedYouth.org.

   Full Circle [Revelations]
And now here we are, present day. Struggling to get back on it's feet, though Doomed Youth has already aquired some great minds from deviantart.com (Link) which is probably our main source of visitors. Of course, the new site has maintained the Cream of the Crop from the old Doomed Youth, as loyal patrons of V2 return to us in new skins with 8 months worth of bitching to catch up on. I'm not saying we're here, it's done... hell knows I've got a lot of work to do with the site, let alone bringing an even better community in, but it's a start and a seemingly good one at that! So I bring this to a close by thanking those loyal loonies from v2 for returning (some of whom are even coming back out of choice!!) and to welcome the new members and mere visitors alike with open arms, introducing them to my very own frankenstien... Doomed Youth.

   Mission [There and Back Again]
Ah hmm, now... a mission? A mission! Hoom hum. Well, that seems to have changed, perhaps, since the site's first creation, though I'm sure it's filled with an equal ammount of uncertainty. Doomed Youth is here to bring awareness. I'd say that's it's foremost aim. Though bearing in mind this is soley from my point of view, and since inevitably an artists creation bears the brunt of interpretation of the masses this view will no doubt be redundant for most, but nessecary nonetheless. So awareness, foremost. To make people aware that everyone has a view, even the youth. Views may change, for better... or for worse, but views they remain; which means I, for one, listen to them. Other aims would possibly be along the lines of increased tolerance for others, perhaps more self understanding, and of course to provide with knowledge. Yes, I'm not being very specific... but what more can I say? It has it's own heart now, it's own consciousness, I can only sit back and hope it rises gracefully from the flames, avoiding any further episodes like the demise of version two. And as long as it's heart still beats... I'll be happy.

   Continuation [The Wheel of Time]
And here I am again, a year and a half later, and DoomedYouth is not only still around but it's actually got it's biggest user base since conception. Granted this user base isn't nessecarily the most active, but after a swift prodding; who knows!
Back to the matter at hand, however. Here comes yet another version/revision of DoomedYouth. This time a completely rewritten back-end. Though the beginnings of the backend now used by DoomedYouth have been around for nearly a year it has almost been revised enough internally to be considered another version. Initially the core of a project known as "antiSTOCK", then, more recently, the Engine Room, it has finally been implimented for a more user friendly version of DoomedYouth.
From a point of statistics DoomedYouth seems to be getting ever more popular, with our registration total going up weekly and our unique visits per month up around the 1500 to 1800 mark. It's not amazing but then considering I've put no effort into the advertising/marketing of the site it's no mean feat - having just one link (albeit on a very popular site) and word of mouth to work with. Though it must be added that if you're reading this you're viewing version 4, and the time for leaving DoomedYouth in the shadows is past.
